New Honey Box Hive funded project will support and develop local musicians

Continuing our support for local musicians we are delighted to confirm a new funded project here at King Street Studios Newcastle Under Lyme – named the Honey Box Hive. The new project is aimed at the development of our own local musicians, to gather vital information in the music industry in Staffs and Stoke, to find out what people feel they need to improve and progress their careers in the industry. We have met with local musicians and bands to find out their wants and needs. We will then work to host several free workshops and panels run by industry professionals, with the objective being to provide the tools and knowledge required. This project will offer new opportunities to aspiring sound and lighting engineers, as well as presenting opportunities on the Honey Box. As you’ll know, we’re not stranger to live music in Staffordshire, which is where the Honey Box will stream its monthly live show! Featuring local acts performing in front of an intimate audience, live from the studio. The show is now reaching the end of its seventh series, and Co-Producer Peter Herbert feels the new project will serve to be a great addition to Staffordshire music. ‘This is a great opportunity to build on the work started by the Honey Box, to engage in conversation with local artists about how they would like to further their careers, and to support them in achieving their aims.’ Project lead and founder of the Honey Box, Lee Barber, is keen to get stuck into the project. ‘It’s a great step for us at King Street. We’ve been running the Honey Box for eight years now, I’m looking forward to expanding on that work to help bands progress further. I think it’s important to recognise the fact that we aren’t claiming to know all the answers, we’re simply wanting to help musicians, to find those answers together’. Honey Box Hive is funded by Newcastle under Lyme’s UKSPF projects, and will run up to March 2025. If you are a local musician or band looking to get involved in Honey Box Hive contact us today.
